The Pentagon released a statement about a U.S. drone damaged by Russian fighter jets forced to ditch into the Black Sea. Video footage from the drone showed a Russian Su-27 jet dumping its fuel on the drone in an apparent attempt to disable it. A second Su-27 then damaged the drone’s propeller forcing it into the sea. Russian ships quickly proceeded to the crash location. The White House put out a statement the incident was disturbing and violated international law.
Biden signed an executive order enhancing gun purchase background checks, bolstering red flag laws, and enhancing gun safe storage laws. The executive order came short of his proposing an assault-type weapon ban, and reduced magazines. Expect court filings to rescind the executive order based on constitutional law objections.
Following the Silicon Valley Bank collapse last week, Signature Bank has also failed. Regulators are concerned about additional banks failing around the world. Investigations are mounting over SVB only having one board member with banking experience, and ESG seemed to guide its growth rather than investor returns.
Border security hearings were held in Texas last week in a play by House Republicans to emphasize the open border crisis. House Democrats refused to be a part of the hearings. Border Patrol officials discredited Homeland Security Director Mayorkas’s statements that the border was under control.
Breaking a campaign promise, Joe Biden agreed to let Conoco-Philips go ahead and use Alaskan leased lands known as the Willow Project for oil exploration. U.S. strategic reserves are at a low point after Biden drew down the reserves to ease inflation from his “war on oil” initiative on his first day in office. The far-left progressive base is fuming over the decision while moderates on both sides of the aisle are applauding it.
In an apparent attempt to narrow his potential contenders for the Republican primary, President Trump sued Ron DeSantis for violating Florida law regarding running for federal office while maintaining his governorship. Governor DeSantis has not publicly announced his run for president but has made many speeches in key primary states

President Trump announced he will be arrested Tuesday for an indictment filed in Manhattan, N.Y. The indictment will charge Trump with campaign finance law violations over his possible payoff to ex-porn film star Stormy Daniels using campaign donations. President Trump has denied any wrongdoing and is encouraging his base to protest peaceably. Speaker McCarthy has asked for no protesting.
Russian President Vladimir Putin visited the occupied city of Mariupol in Ukraine just one day after the International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for him. The warrant cited war crimes against the leader but appears to be more ceremonial than enforceable.
